Welcome to The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District.

Our Mission
To protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors in our district.

The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, located in central Colorado, serves the towns of Eagle, Wolcott, State Bridge, Bond, McCoy, and Fulford. This is a large and diverse area, The town of Eagle, at an elevation of 6600 feet, is a fast growing town with several large hotels and a booming commercial area. One of the fastest growing airports in the country is just west of town and provides non-stop service from major airlines to both coasts, Chicago, Dallas, and Minneapolis. The other extremes are Fulford (an abandoned mining town at 10,000 feet now being rebuilt as a summer resort), McCoy (a rural ranching town), and thousands of acres of National Forest land.

The area is split by Interstate 70, with it's extrication and haz-mat problems, and the Eagle River, a popular rafting and float fishing area, which keeps the whitewater rescue team busy.

The famous ski resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek are at the other end of our valley. The population of the area can increase by 10 times when all the second home owners and time-share people arrive for the ski season.

The planned and approved construction will double the permanent population of our district in the next few years. Several major housing developments are getting started now.

The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District provides fire, EMS, Haz-Mat, and rescue service for this area, including ice rescue and whitewater rescue.

Add in the communications problems in our canyons and remote valleys, lost hunters and backpackers, snowmobile wrecks in the most out of the way places, and all the other things the public can manage to throw at us, and you can see that this area is a real challenge.
